Teen accused of killing man during robbery at ATM to remain behind bars

A South Florida teenager appeared in court Monday, where a judge ordered that he remain behind bars as the state decides whether to charge him as a juvenile or an adult in the murder of a man in North Miami Beach.

Police said Marcine Hill fatally shot Dillon Bud Calvin Steve, 26, Wednesday night as Steve was using an ATM at a Bank of America near Northeast 12th Avenue and Northeast 163rd Street.

Police said surveillance video from the bank shows Hill coming up behind Steve and shooting the victim during a robbery.

Steve's mother witnessed the shooting while sitting in the family's van, authorities said.

Hill's mother and another family member were inside the courtroom with him when the judge quashed a motion to move him to another jurisdiction.

His family would not comment on the case to reporters outside the courtroom.

Hill is being kept in custody for now. The state has until Nov. 24 to decide whether it is going to formally charge Hill and whether he will be charged as a juvenile or an adult.

Records show that Hill has been arrested 15 other times in South Florida since 2011 on various charges, including petty theft, grand theft, burglary and robbery.
