Child wounded in Fort Lauderdale shooting

A child was wounded in a shooting early Monday in Fort Lauderdale, police said.

The shooting was reported shortly after midnight in the 1600 block of Northwest 24th Avenue.

Fort Lauderdale police said someone in a vehicle fired several shots into a home, wounding a child inside.

The victim was taken to an area hospital. The victim's age, identity and condition were not immediately known.

Police are investigating the shooting.
