Washington, DC, law partner expected to recover after Turks and Caicos shooting

A partner in a Washington, D.C., law firm is recovering at Memorial Regional Hospital after being shot during a Friday night burglary in the Turks and Caicos Islands while vacationing with his family.

Michael Jones, 57, was shot in his upper body during an armed burglary at a home in Providenciales, the main island of Turks and Caicos, about 10 p.m. Friday.

Jones was taken to a hospital in Turks and Caicos before being flown to a South Florida hospital for emergency treatment.

A spokeswoman for Kirkland & Ellis, the law firm where Jones works, said the attorney "is in stable condition and is expected to fully recover."

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Mike and his family, and we look forward to welcoming him back after his recovery," a statement from Kirkland & Ellis said.

No arrests have been made in Jones' shooting. Police are investigating.
