Fireworks explosion injures 3 boys in Pompano Beach

A fireworks explosion Sunday night injured three boys near McNair Park in Pompano Beach, authorities said.

Pompano Beach spokeswoman Sandra King said firefighters were called at about 7 p.m. Sunday after the boys were injured in a neighborhood near the intersection of Northwest 27th Avenue and Ninth Court.

King said the victims are 8, 9 and 11.

She said one of the children lost his hand, another lost fingers and the third suffered burns to his face and chest.

King said two of the boys are brothers.

Paramedics took the victims by ambulance to Broward Health Medical Center.
