2 arrested after police pursue stolen car from Boynton Beach to Boca Raton

Two people were arrested Wednesday night after a police pursuit that began in Boynton Beach and ended in Boca Raton.

Boynton Beach police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater said the chase began about 9:30 p.m. after police spotted a car that was reported stolen during a carjacking earlier in the day on North Seacrest Boulevard.

Slater said officers attempted a traffic stop, but the Nissan Altima sped away and headed south on Interstate 95.

Officers pursued the car as it exited on Congress Avenue in Boca Raton and then got back on I-95.

The car exited again on Glades Road and continued to Airport Road, where someone in the car threw a gun out of the window.

Slater said the driver, identified as Morris Johnson Jr., lost control of the car and crashed near the Cinemark movie theater shortly before 10 p.m.

Johnson was arrested on charges of fleeing and eluding, grand theft auto, possession of marijuana and driving without a license.

A female passenger in the car was also arrested.
