Boy riding bicycle airlifted to JMH after struck by vehicle

A young boy was struck by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon while riding his bicycle in North Miami Beach, authorities said.

The incident was reported shortly before 6 p.m. at 13621 NE 21st Ave.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue spokesman Felipe Lay said the boy was airlifted as a trauma alert to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

A woman accompanied the boy in the helicopter, Lay said.

Authorities said the boy is under 10 years old.

His identity was not immediately released.

Northeast 151st Street was shut down after the incident.

It's unclear whether the driver was at fault.
