The area, adjacent to Homestead and Florida City, is near West Homestead Elementary School, 1550 SW 6th St., in Homestead.
MDFR Lt. Felipe Lay said the homes and the residents in the area were not in danger.
Records show firefighters responded to Southwest 192nd Avenue between 330th and 338th Streets in unincorporated Miami-Dade about 6 p.m.
The Florida Forest Service also deployed a crew to deal with the wildfire, Lay said.
