WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp (D-North Dakota), a member of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, is one of two Democratic senators who have said they will vote for the confirmation of Neil Gorsuch to be put on the U.S. Supreme Court. Heitkamp, joined fellow Democratic Senator Joe Manchin (D-West Viriginia) to support him.

The two are breaking with their Democratic colleagues who will reject President Trump’s pick.

“He has a record as a balanced, meticulous, and well respected jurist who understands the rule of law,” Senator Heitkamp said. She also state her vote “does not diminish how disturbed I am by what Republicans did to Judge Garland,” former President Barack Obama’s nominee who was blocked by the GOP-led Senate.
