WASHINGTON– The Wall Street Journal is reporting that President-elect Donald Trump will nominate Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Washington) to serve as secretary of the Interior. The secretary of the Interior is a key role in any presidential administration the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Bureau of Indian Education are housed in the Interior Department.

McMorris Rodgers was first elected to Congress in 2004. She now serves on the Energy and Commerce Committee and has focused on hydropower.

She is a vice chair of Trump’s transition team and the highest-ranking woman in GOP leadership.
