At 0347 this morning an Albuquerque ambulance driver was traveling Southbound I25 at the big eye and observed a vehicle traveling as he describes as over 100 mph Northbound in the Southbound lanes of I 25. Within the same time frame 911 began receiving phone calls of a head on collision at I25 Southbound at Comanche. Officers arrived on scene and located two vehicles. The young adult wrong way male driver and a young adult female driver traveling Southbound. Both drivers succumbed to their injuries on scene. The accident was deemed a full motors callout. It is unknown if this accident was alcohol related and a determination will be made by the OMI office at a later date. Names of the young adults will not be released at this time due to family notification.

Both individuals lived outside of the Albuquerque Police Departments jurisdiction.I was advised by the on scene lieutenant that media had video of the incident. We would ask that those images not be released pending family notification.

Thank you.
