This page is indeed dedicated to Brian Paddick. But it has become fairly dated and much of the material as well as the story now a couple
of years later has changed.
Brian Paddick is now Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Metropolitan police in London and one can find him widely quoted about casualty
reports following the attacks in London today. The news and views we keep below reflect a time that now seems far far away...
BBSNews 2003 -- Sadly it appears that senior officials in London are NOT going to honor their word and return Brian Paddick back to his former job and the community which was clamoring to have him back. This is so wrong given that his pioneering style has been not only vindicated but will largely be put into place across England. BBSNews joined in the call to re-instate Commander Paddick back to Lambeth as was promised. Fair is fair. As a special yearend treat for faithful BBSNews readers, Brian Paddick has weighed in on

He turned up in the news a while back, mostly because a tabloid news source was trying to drum up controversy while ignoring what is actually going on from their purported source,

The world and the MET should look at this entire exchange at urban75.com as an example of EXACTLY how a good cop handles and can handle the 'net. Brian Paddick has had the courage throughout this entire witch hunt to stand up for his good cops and for what is right.
I'm finding it hard to understand why his methods are even reproached at all. This man has apparently found the Holy Grail of being able to not only deal with people in the flesh and on the street, but he also has mastered the
nifty online technology we hear so much about to interact with the community in a positive way. Paddick is a pioneer with vision that in hindsight governments will kick themselves for not seeing before. The "softly, softly" approach is being vindicated by real data and hard statistics at every turn. Even as the US DEA raids some more sick people in the middle of a War on Terrorism.

 Alero from Norwood turned out for the Tuesday, March 26th, 2002 meeting in support of Brian Paddick. Tony Bartholomew for mybrixton.com asked her "Why are you at the meeting?" Alero replied "I'm helping Shane Collins from the Green Party. He's in charge of the Green Party's drugs group and they disseminate information about drugs. At the moment, we're very much interested in Lambeth's cannabis policy... which was going along quite nicely."
Lambeth residents had a positive meeting of the Community Police Consultative Group on Tuesday night. Crowd estimates ranged up to 400. There was a surprise visit from Commander Paddick who thanked supporters at the Town Hall in Brixton saying "I just wanted to come along and thank all of you here and the hundreds of people who have written in support, who have also emailed me, from the grandmother in Scotland to the former chief
