Bush leaves in place some of the sentence

BBSNews 2007-07-02 -- President Bush today used the power of the President and removed the prison portion of I. Lewis Libby, who was convicted on multiple felony counts of lying to a grand jury and obstruction of justice. Bush said:

"I respect the jury's verdict. But I have concluded that the prison sentence given to Mr. Libby is excessive. Therefore, I am commuting the portion of Mr. Libby's sentence that required him to spend thirty months in prison."

Obviously, there is a different law for Republicans, Americans jailed for using medical marijuana won't get this kind of treatment, they will feel the full force of the law on their sick bodies because they don't have a special friend named George W. Bush who can simply set aside prison time at the behest of the likes of Rush Limbaugh.

New York Senator Chuck Schumer says the decision "completely tramples" on the principle of "equal justice under the law."

According to attorney Richard Glen Boire of the Center for Cognitive Liberty and Ethics, writing in a new report, "Sanctions triggered by felony marijuana convictions can be more severe than those for a violent crime – and a felony can be as little as growing one marijuana plant or possessing over 20 grams of marijuana."

If you are a Bush crony however, you can have the Republican friendly president of the United States simply remove your prison time. If you are a patient who uses marijuana and grows one plant in a state with the most severe sanctions, you can expect no help from the "compassionate conservatives" in the GOP.

This is simply one more bad tiding for the Republican Party, those that they have backed feel they are above the law and will not ever be held fully accountable. And it clearly shows that the GOP backed President believes that no one in his administration should be held fully accountable, even after a jury trial.
