Nine month lull broken by broken hearted Palestinian
BBSNews 2007-01-30 -- A Palestinian was driven by an Israeli yesterday near a bakery in southern Israel where the Palestinian, distraught by the death of his child from a health problem and his best friend by IDF forces, blew himself up killing three Israeli civilians and himself.

"The Palestinian who blew himself up in the Israeli resort of Eilat on Monday was unemployed, despondent over the death of his baby daughter and driven to avenge his best friend's killing by Israeli troops, relatives said."
Haaretz said:
"A senior Israel Defense Forces officer told Haaretz that the Islamic Jihad suicide bomber who killed three people Monday morning when he blew himself up in a bakery in the southern resort city of Eilat, entered Israel through the border with Egypt, several dozen kilometers northwest of Eilat.Once in the Simchon neighborhood of Eilat, the terrorist hitched a ride with Yossi Waltinsky, a lieutenant colonel in the IDF reserves, who happened to be driving by."
Former Education Minister of Israel Shulamit Aloni wrote recently that a new law had come into effect, at least in the Occupied Territories:
"Major-General Naveh, renowned for his superior patriotism, has issued a new order. Coming into effect on January 19, it prohibits the conveyance of Palestinians without a permit. The order determines that Israelis are not allowed to transport Palestinians in an Israeli vehicle (one registered in Israel regardless of what kind of number plate it carries) unless they have received explicit permission to do so. The permit relates to both the driver and the Palestinian passenger. Of course none of this applies to those whose labor serves the settlers. They and their employers will naturally receive the required permits so they can continue to serve the lords of the land, the settlers."
It's not clear whether IDF Lieutenant Colonel Yossi Waltinsky will face charges for giving the man a ride to the bombing.
Israel is saying that this is an "escalation" and it does make Mahmoud Abbas look paralyzed to do anything to stop the frustration of Palestinians who have been living under decades of oppressive occupation under the Israeli's and because al-Aqsa Brigades are loosely affiliated with him:
"Two Palestinian groups, Islamic Jihad and al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, claimed joint responsibility for the bombing and said it was meant to encourage rival Palestinian factions to stop fighting each other and 'point the guns' at Israel instead.Israeli leaders said the attack jeopardized a 2-month-old truce accord between them and Palestinian leaders in the Gaza Strip. The bomber was identified by the two militant groups as a 20-year-old from Gaza whose family said he had left home on a suicide mission three days earlier.
'This is an escalation, and we shall treat it as such,' Israeli Defense Minister Amir Peretz said as he convened an emergency meeting of top security officials in Tel Aviv. 'No terror organization will get away. The cease-fire will not prevent us from hitting them.'"
The Apartheid Wall had no effect at stopping this attack against innocent civilians. And it's not clear that the United States will do anything to encourage Israel to follow UN resolutions designed to defuse this madness, in particular resolution 242. Yesterday the US State Department issued a report about Israel's use of cluster bombs on civilians during their invasion of Lebanon over a cross-border pretext involving two soldiers. It's been reported a mild rebuke will be about all that happens to Israel under the current US administration.
