Survey finds 69% hope friends and family will take the easy way out
Zogby via BBSNews 2006-12-10 -- Time is starting to run out to find that perfect present for that loved one, which, in years past, spelled bad news for shoppers who are long since out of ideas. But a new Zogby Interactive poll shows a new player in the holiday gift-giving game is taking the frustration out of Holiday shopping - nearly half (49%) of America's shoppers are including gift cards in their holiday plans.
For most, giving a gift card is a pretty safe bet - 69% say they like receiving gift cards because they can choose exactly what they want. The younger the recipient, the more likely that giving a gift card will make you a holiday hero - three out of four 18-24 give gift cards a thumbs-up. Women are also more likely than men to be excited about receiving gift cards (72%) - it's a built-in excuse to hit up January sales (though 66% of men said they like them). The survey, which includes a broad look at Americans' feelings on shopping this holiday season, is featured in the December issue of Zogby's American Consumer newsletter, now available at www.zogby.com.
Gift cards may get shoppers out of having to find the perfect gift, but they still have to make sure it's from the perfect store...
