Decades of truth finally catching up to hardline Israeli's

BBSNews 2006-12-09 -- Jimmy Carter, former President of the United States is quite correct in his assessment of current Palestinian conditions, it's apartheid according to the worlds definition, only the US is left to catch up. Everyone knows that politics is mostly perception. The world at large considers America to be in collusion with Israel to subjagate Arab peoples and the root of that is the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories. The elephant in the room: This time, the perception is closer to the reality as opposed to what the hardliners would have America believe. The truth is finally coming out.

The US government has done a horrible job at explaining to the American people the realities of the Middle East. At some point this has to end, because in today's world, news travels faster than ever before. Governments can be embarrassed at a moments notice if they make a press announcement and then a video shows up on the Internet shows that the announcement was bunk.

We are not going to delve to deeply into the obvious anti-Palestinian bias that has been instilled in the American body politic for decades in favor of Israel; no matter seemingly what they do. It's obvious to the entire world except the United States, just look at the cluster bomb issue. Israel's stated goal was to bomb Lebanon back into the "stone age" after what reporters have taken to call a 'cross-border raid' that really may just as plausibly mean that the first reports from the ground were right. It was really a small scale raid by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) special forces going across the border to gauge what was up... And they got caught.

That is closer to the truth we suspect, first impressions from the ground are always suspect but this looks like a sanitized operation on the side of those who wished to contain a disaster: The US backed the Israelis. The US supplied the bombs and the hardware just as the United States does for all the operations that Israelis do against others outside of their own country.

President Carter is being taken to task by a small but well connected and very loud segment of people who believe that the subjugation of the Arab/Palestinian population in the occupied territories by preventing them from traveling, or having normal lives is a great idea that will foment Israeli security as well as world security. This obvious policy could not be more wrong-headed. An apartheid wall is the worst idea... Unless the Israeli's actually placed it on their border instead of stealing even more land. Yes, stealing land that is simply not theirs, it will never be theirs, and it is wrong under UN Resolutions and international law what has transpired.

Leadership from this current US administration is simply not possible. The credibility was gone soon after the fake aircraft carrier photo-op by Bush junior off the coast of California. If only the networks would have turned those cameras around then...

There really is no hope for change until US elections in 2008 hopefully break completely the cycle of neocon/theocon policy that is currently pursued by the US, and then only if, those jaded remnants of well-funded politicos can be fended off and replaced with eager civil servants who care about truth and justice. Sadly it won't be until 2008, when the junior Bush is out of office with his dog that is the only mammal on the planet that might react favorably to his ideas... Everyone will just have to hang on until the world's supposed 'super power' has shut itself of the current regime that is not reality based both in the US and Israel. And even that won't work with Nancy Pelosi. She has already dismissed President Carter out of hand. She had better recognize. Americans, including independents hoped for realisitic change after the last election. Unless the US realisitcally considers stopping all aid to Israel unless it also complies with all the UN resolutions facing it, the US and the world at large will see no real peace. Fair is fair, what is good for Iraq, and Iran, and North Korea must also go for Israel or the United States is just cherry picking UN resolutions as much as the US has been accused of using skewed intelligence to launch a war of choice against Iraq about WMD.

We are including here two very obvious maps, that show Israel has taken the vast majority of the West Bank for their own.

What has happened is undeniable by Israel, and the current President Bush stood by and let it happen not realizing that this decades old conflict should have been foremost on his 'to do' list. But he didn't like anything Bill Clinton did; the continuity from presidency to presidency was broken tragically by the GOP as it turns out for America. And now the US has a huge mess and decades ahead to live down what this present situation has wrought on behalf of our own brand of theocratic extremists.

Look at those blue dots that cover the West Bank. Each one is protected by a security cordon to keep out the dreaded landowners, the Palestinians. Every major artery in the West Bank is controlled by the Israeli's. Palestinians are simply shut out. And not the world, but the US wonders what the fuss is about. It's because this is the Palestinian reality that your nanny state America has never told you about.

Since Palestinian insecurity directly affects US security, maybe it's time Americans should ask. One good man is, Jimmy Carter.

We believe that it is time to listen.
