6.8 Earthquake Located in the Nias Region

USGS via BBSNews 2006-05-17 -- A strong earthquake occurred about 270 km (165 miles) SW of Sibolga at 9:28 AM MDT, May 16, 2006 (10:28 PM local time in Indonesia). The magnitude and location may be revised when additional data and further analysis results are available. There have been no reports of damage.
