Da Vinci Discovered More than the Mona Lisa

NASA via BBSNews - 2005-10-04 -- The next time you step outside at sunset and look at the glow on the horizon, think about how sky watchers puzzled over what made it. One man figured it out in the 16th century but he is not well known for this discovery. He is more known the Mona Lisa. Yes I am talking about Leonardo Da Vinci.

"Little-known to most, one of Leonardo's finest works is not a painting or an invention, but rather something from astronomy: He solved the ancient riddle of Earthshine." writes Dr. Tony Phillips.
