London Attacks Prompts US Terror Threat Level to High-Risk (Orange)

DHS via BBSNews - July 7, 2005 (11:45 EDT) -- The United States government is raising the threat level from Code Yellow --or Elevated-- to Code Orange--or High--for the mass transportation portion of the transportation sector. This includes subways, intra-city buses lines, regional intra- and inter-city rail lines.

We do not have any specific, credible intelligence indicating an attack in the United States, but we are constantly evaluating both intelligence and our protective measures and will take whatever actions are necessary.

The Department of Homeland Security has stood up the Interagency Incident Management Group to ensure full situational awareness around this incident and in the United States in response to the tragic bombings in London today.

Recommended Activities

All Americans, including those traveling in the transportation systems, should continue to be vigilant, take notice of their surroundings, and report suspicions items or activities to local authorities immediately.

Everybody should establish an emergency preparedness kit as well as a communications plan for themselves and their family, and stay informed about what to do during an emergency situation.
