Living in a Bubble: Spitzer Sees Star Families

RCW 79 is a bubble of ionized gas and warm dust in the southern Milky Way, 17,200 light years from Earth. The infrared eyes of NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope have spotted at least three generations of stars forming along the edge of this expanding envelope.
