GOP Votes to Undercut Judiciary

The extremist wing of the GOP has gotten the votes to attack a settled question of law in the state of Florida to provide extraordinary relief to the parents of Terri Schiavo and directly and blatantly interfere with the rights of the husband and guardian in this tragic case, Michael Schiavo.

203 yes votes and 58 no votes (corrected) carried the measure that required a quorum of 218 congresspersons with a two thirds majority required to pass the measure. The measure has passed and will go to president Bush where it is assumed he will sign it in the middle of the night.

This is an egregious miscarriage of legislative largess on the part of the Republican led GOP.

One can only guess what their next target will be.
