Terri Schiavo Held Hostage by GOP Right Wing

Notice Terri's last name is her husbands. They are married. Christians have claimed to be in favor of the sanctity of marriage. Except for the Schiavo case.

Christians decry "activist" judges. Except when they need one. In this case, they would like a federal judge to impose their moral beliefs upon a husband and wife in the state of Florida.

Christians are also passionate about the Ten Commandments. Except when those commandments get in the way of their worldly view on others personal, family, private behavior.

Politicians have claimed a judge in Florida is "murdering" Terri Schiavo. Of course, that's a lie, a falsehood, a blatantly false testimony contravening one of those important Ten Commandments that only get followed by Christians when they don't collide with today's political world view.

The end justifies the means in today's Christian Republican driven agenda.

All important Christian principles are seemingly cast aside as long as some headway can be made on the extremist moral agenda, as long as more power can be consolidated to control peoples lives in the smallest degree; as long as a rigid and religious driven crusade can be implemented and forced upon Americans and the world.

16 judges have looked at the Terri Schiavo case. It's been before the Florida Supreme Court and turned away by the United States Supreme Court.

Republicans, driven by Christians, don't like the outcome of the case so they will endanger the very separation of judicial and legislative powers to try and change this single and tragic case.

Terri Schiavo has been long dead. Only her physical body is at issue. The court appointed doctors have made this clear and the numerous appeals have been turned away because no one has been able to refute the fact that Terri Schiavo's cerebral cortex has been flooded with so much spinal fluid that it shows up on a CT scan. Published reports and legal findings further indicate that her brain was severely deprived of oxygen as a result of a chemical imbalance, likely brought on by an eating disorder.

These findings of fact have been reviewed numerous times. When Christians proclaim that Terri is getting less "due process" than say a convicted murderer, this is again quite obviously a lie. And a no-no according to adherents of the Ten Commandments.

The 2nd District Court of Appeal has recently concluded in denying yet another appeal, "Not only has Mrs. Schiavo's case been given due process, but few, if any, similar cases have ever been afforded this heightened level of process... The Schindlers have filed numerous motions, but they have failed to present any lawful basis for relief from judgment."

Republicans are using their power to change a state and local decision about one individual case. They are doing this because it is a safe issue that will ignite the anti-abortion right-wing and if any Democrats stand in the way, so much the better to use come election time.

The law most certainly won't survive a Constitutional challenge.

Are there any American Christians who abhor the lies and manipulation being used in this case to usurp judicial findings of fact?

Will any Christians speak out against this attempt by Republicans to interrupt the balance of power between the legislative and judicial branches of American government?

Will just one Christian come out and stand up for the right of Terri's husband to be left alone in his grief, having faced an excruciating decision that has been meticulously upheld by numerous judges and courts?
