WASHINGTON – The Trump administration’s former national security advisor Michael T. Flynn pleaded guilty on Friday to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about two conversations with the Russian ambassador in December 2016 during the presidential transition.
Flynn’s plea came on the day after special counsel, Robert S. Mueller brought a charge against Flynn, who has been under investigation by the special counsle office for several months.
Flynn, was fired by Trump earlier this year for lying to Vice President Pence. However, Trump appeared to want to protect Flynn from the investigation when he allegedly asked former FBI Director James Comey to end the FBI investigation of Flynn.
Last year, at the Republican national convention, Flynn led a “Lock Her Up” chant against 2016’s Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
