South Florida mother accused of burning son’s hand on hot stove as punishment

A South Florida woman is accused of burning her son's hand on a hot stove as punishment for his bad behavior.

Miriam Rebolledo was arrested Thursday on a charge of aggravated child abuse.

According to a police report, Rebolledo put the 6-year-old boy's hand on the stove Wednesday "to punish him for hitting other students in school."

Police said Rebolledo told them she has repeatedly tried to correct her son's behavior "by using other methods of punishment, to no avail."

According to the report, the 29-year-old mother said she "could not take it anymore" and needed "a more extreme form of punishment" to teach the boy a lesson.

Rebolledo was arrested and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. She was being held on a $7,500 bond.
