MILWAUKEE – About 2,000 American Indian leaders are in Milwaukee, Wisconsin this week to attend the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) 74th Annual Convention & Marketplace.
The annual convention tribal leaders and other NCAI members from across Indian Country the opportunity to come together to engage in dialogue about the most pressing issues facing tribal communities, advance key priorities of mutual concern through NCAI’s consensus-based resolutions process, and cast votes for the oganization’s executive officer positions.
Featuring the theme “We Are Strong Nations,” the Annual Convention will uplift and share the
many stories of tribal governance success being authored by tribal nations across the United
States, affirming that upholding treaty and trust obligations and tribal sovereignty is the only
successful, proven policy for Native peoples.
The Annual Convention also will feature a robust mix of cultural events, receptions, and NCAI’s
heavily visited Tradeshow & Marketplace. The convention concludes on Friday.
