1 teen dead, 2 teens hurt in northwest Miami-Dade crash

A 19-year-old man died, and two other men – one 18 and the other 19 – were injured Monday afternoon during a crash in northwest Miami-Dade, county police said.

The driver of a black Toyota sedan was traveling westbound on Northwest 173rd Drive when it was struck by a white Toyota pickup that was heading southbound on Northwest 74th Avenue, crossing over to Northwest 173rd Drive, police said.

The sedan slid into a median and then struck a fire hydrant and a tree, police said.

One passenger was ejected from the vehicle and was later pronounced dead at the scene by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

The driver and one of the passengers in the sedan were taken to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition after the crash.

The driver of the white pickup was not hurt.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
