Man arrested after stealing $5,000 worth of gym equipment

A 29-year-old man has been arrested after he stole $5,000 worth of items from an apartment gym, Miami police said.

On Sept. 11, Alexis Contreras Rivera broke into the Shorecrest Apartment In the 7900 block of Northeast Bayshore Drive and took equipment, monitors, a television and speakers before fleeing the scene, police said.

Police were able to track Riviera down and arrested him on charges of burglary and grand theft.

The stolen items were returned to the apartment complex.
