At least two people are dead and 26 others hospitalized in a mass shooting Sunday night at the Mandalay Bay hotel and resort on the Las Vegas strip.

The Associated Press reports that of the 26 injured, 12 are in critical condition.

Las Vegas police say one suspect is “down,” news sources say.

A hospital spokeswoman confirmed to the Los Angeles Times that the casualties were near the Mandalay Bay casino.

Concertgoers at a Route 91 Harvest country music festival performance reported a burst of weapons fire as the concert was underway, The Los Angeles Times reports. Country music star Jason Aldean was reportedly performing when the gunfire erupted, Fox News reports.

A triage center was set up at Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue and multiple emergency vehicles were en route to the scene, reports show.

One witness told CNN affiliate KSNV that the shooting sounded like firecrackers at first.

"It didn't sound normal, it sounded like machine guns and it was like several rounds, it was like hundreds of rounds," she told the news station.

Facebook has set up a crisis response page to help people establish whether their loved ones are safe.
