Surveillance video captures gunman yelling at man cutting grass before fatal shooting

Surveillance video released Friday shows a man yelling at an elderly man who was cutting the grass near a Pembroke Park convenience store before the altercation escalated into a fatal shooting.

Broward Sheriff's Office deputies said Philip Antonino, 57, was walking back to his place of work about 9 a.m. Sept. 22 when he saw an elderly homeless man being berated by another man while cutting the grass in a field adjacent to the Kwik Stop at 5551 W. Hallandale Beach Blvd.

Deputies said Antonino told the man to back off.

They said moments later, the man pulled out a gun and shot Antonino multiple times.

A Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue crew took Antonino to a local hospital, where he died.

Deputies said the gunman ran north on West 56th Avenue after the shooting.

Anyone with information about his identity is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $3,000 is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
