Drunk man arrested for attempting to steal Tamarac fire truck

A drunk man was arrested after he tried to play fireman with a real fire truck in Tamarac.

Eric Michael Blaise, 32, climbed into the driver's seat of a City of Tamarac Fire Rescue fire truck early Tuesday morning, and attempted to drive away while the real firefighters were on a call.

Fortunately, Blaise was unable to get the truck in gear. When a lieutenant heard the brakes release, he went outside and saw someone in the truck.

Blaise ran away from the scene, but was later identified while wearing a vest from the fire truck.

Blaise was arrested and charged with grand theft of emergency medical equipment and petit theft.
