CHICAGO – The 64th Annual American Indian Center Powwow Grand Entry will be held at Noon and 6 pm on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the American Indian Center building (3401 W. Ainslie St.  Chicago, IL  60625) in Albany Park.

This is a very special occasion marking the return of the American Indian Center Powwow to Chicago and in the new organizational headquarters of American Indian Center in Albany Park.

This event is an authentic Native American cultural experience featuring several Powwow Drums/singing groups from around the midwest.

Featured drums include:  Milwaukee Bucks; Red Line; Southern Straight; and Chkiibamaazi Chicago’s Youth Drum.  Dancers from around Indian Country will be attending wearing full powwow regalia.

The Powwow grand-entry will be held at noon the day of the event and at 6 pm.  The “Grand Entry” marks the official beginning of a powwow.  Tradition is that American Indian Veterans begin the day by dancing in the “stars and stripes”, the banners of our respective armed forces, and the American Indian Center Eagle Staff.
