The Rickenbacker Causeway was shut down Monday as the bridge leading into Key Biscayne is inspected for any damage sustained by Hurricane Irma.
Authorities said there is no time table for when the causeway will reopen and said that no one, including residents, will be allowed into Key Biscayne until the inspection is complete.
The causeway is also closed to pedestrians and bicyclists.
Authorities said the bridge that carries drivers to Key West suffered severe structural damage during the storm so they don't want to take any chances with the bridge leading into Key Biscayne.
Miami Beach residents have also been unable to return home, but city officials said they will be allowed entrance beginning at noon Tuesday.
