Published September 7, 2017

CHARLOTTE – A Republican candidate for mayor of Charlotte, North Carolina has caused outrage over the fact she listed “White” as a qualification to become mayor. Kimberely Paige Barnette, is one of several candidates on the GOP slate to become Charlotte’s next mayor.

In a post since taken down, Barnette, placed on her Facebook profile a message reading, “VOTE FOR ME! REPUBLICAN & SMART, WHITE, TRADITIONAL.”

The 53-year=old Caucasian woman is making her first mayoral run. She is the former Mecklenburg County magistrate.

Fortunately, Barnette is down the pack of fellow Republican candidates and is not expected to win the primary election, according to the Charlotte Observer.
