Police search Miramar pond for body after crash

Rescue crews searched for the body of a person in a retention pond off Interstate 75 and Miramar Parkway on Sunday morning after a vehicle crashed into the water.

Miramar Fire Rescue received a call at about 2 a.m. regarding a submerged vehicle, Lt. Jose Gregorisch said.

When firefighters arrived they found that three passengers had gotten out of the submerged vehicle on their own, Gregorisch said. One of those people  was taken to Memorial Hospital Miramar.

After searching for the fourth person for about 45 minutes, firefighters handed the incident over to Miramar police.
