Police investigate shooting at Lauderhill shopping center

A fight outside a Lauderhill shopping center ended in shots fired Sunday morning, police said.

Authorities received a call at about 3 a.m. regarding an altercation in the parking lot of the center located on Northwest 26th Street and State Road 7. While they were on their way to the scene, several other calls came in for the same location. Witnesses told police that someone had fired shots.

When officers arrived, they found three men had been shot and another pistol-whipped. One of those men was on the other side of the street.

Two of the victims were taken to Broward General Hospital. The others were taken to Florida Medical Center. Their injuries are non life-threatening.

Police blocked off the area as they began their investigation. Yellow tape was seen surrounding the shopping center.

Patrons inside a nearby restaurant said officers came into the business and did not let them leave. After hours of questioning witnesses, the customers were allowed to go home at around 6 a.m.

Authorities are looking for the person or people responsible. If you have any information about the crime, call Broward Crime Stoppers and 954-493-TIPS (8477).
