Accused drunken driver arrested months after crash in Davie that killed girlfriend

A man turned himself in to authorities Thursday at the Broward County Courthouse, months after he was accused of driving drunk and getting into a crash that killed his girlfriend.

Davie police said Edgar Reyes is being held in lieu of a $130,000 bond.

According to authorities, Reyes was driving on State Road 7 near Interstate 595, shortly after 3:30 a.m. April 8, when he lost control of his vehicle.

Police said the car rolled over multiple times and Reyes' girlfriend, Martha Hernandez Rondon, was ejected from the vehicle and killed.

Police said Reyes stopped communicating with his attorney shortly after making arrangements to turn himself in to authorities.

Reyes does not have a driver's license and is not a U.S. citizen, authorities said.

Hernandez Rondon was a single mother of two teenage sons.

Reyes faces a DUI manslaughter charge in the case.
