Thief points gun at clerk’s head before taking off with 18-pack of beer

A thief pointed a handgun at a gas station clerk last week before taking off with an 18-pack of beer, authorities said.

The robbery was reported just after 4:30 a.m. Wednesday at a 7-Eleven store at 4451 Davie Blvd.

Broward Sheriff's Office deputies said two men entered the store as the clerk stepped out to throw out some trash.

Deputies said surveillance video shows one man walking directly to the coolers and appearing to struggle to keep an item from sliding down the front of his pants as he walked.

Authorities said he then grabbed an 18-pack of Modelo beer and walked to the front door, where he was confronted by the clerk.

The clerk told the man that the store was closed, and the thief pushed him, pulled a gun from his waistband and pointed it at the clerk's head, authorities said.

Deputies said the clerk hid behind the door and the thief ran off.

Authorities said a second man stood at the counter during the robbery, but left before deputies arrived.

Detectives said they would like to speak with that man.

Anyone with information about the identities of either man is asked to call Detective Armando Enrique at 954-321-4200.
