Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputy ambushed, attacked in alley

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office has released a sketch of a man who ambushed a deputy in Lake Worth.

A deputy was conducting business in an alley behind 1011 Seventh Ave. S. early Sunday when he was flagged down by an unidentified man, PBSO Cpl. Eric Davis said.

When the deputy approached the man, the deputy was ambushed and struck on the right side of his face with a blunt object determined to be a shank or nail, Davis said.

The deputy was taken to a hospital, treated and released.

A sketch of the man described him as having a scruffy beard and facial hair. He was last seen wearing a black shirt with white lettering on it and denim shorts.

The man was last seen running east across South H Street.

A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call the PBSO at 561-688-3000 or Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County at 800-458-TIPS.
