Couple robbed at gunpoint inside their Coral Gables home

Coral Gables police are searching for a man who they said robbed a couple at gunpoint inside their home.

The home invasion robbery was reported at about 8:45 p.m. July 20 in the 800 block of Navarre Avenue.

Detectives believe the man followed the victims home after they ate at Versailles Cafe.

"This is a really popular spot to come to," Coral Gables police spokeswoman Kelly Denham said. "There's a lot of tourists in the area so you don't really think that would happen."

Police said the robber, who spoke only Spanish, pulled out a small semi-automatic handgun and demanded the victims' jewelry.

"As the husband was going into the house, a man pushed him in and produced a firearm -- a small, black handgun," Denham said.

The man left the home in a white, four-door, 2015-2017 Mercedes-Benz C300 with dark-tinted windows, authorities said.

"We found a white car in the parking lot on the video that matched the white car that was seen in the neighborhood," Denham said. "Then we saw the subject coming out. And when you see the subject come out and walk toward the surveillance video that Versailles supplied us, it matches almost identical to the composite. We know this is the person we're looking for. We just need a name now."

Anyone with information about his identity is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
