A partner in a Washington, D.C., law firm is recovering at Memorial Regional Hospital after being shot during a Friday night burglary in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Michael Jones, 57, was shot in his upper body during an armed burglary at a home in Providenciales, the main island of Turks and Caicos, about 10 p.m. Friday.

He was taken to a hospital in Turks and Caicos, before being transported to South Florida for emergency treatment.

Jones is in stable condition and is expected to fully recover, according to a statement issued by his law firm, Kirkland & Ellis.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Mike and his family, and we look forward to welcoming him back after his recovery,' a statement from Kirkland & Ellis said.
