Surveillance video shows man, vehicle believed to be involved in Sunrise hit-and-run

Sunrise police released surveillance video Thursday that shows a man and a vehicle believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run that left a woman critically injured.

The incident was reported just after midnight July 15 in the 12600 block of Sunrise Boulevard.

Police said Michelle Holguin, 53, was riding her bicycle home from work, when she was struck by a car in front of a Chick-fil-A restaurant.

Police said Holguin, a waitress at a nearby restaurant called Lester's Diner, was wearing black shoes, black pants and a black shirt at the time of the crash.

Authorities believe the vehicle that struck Holguin is a 2013-2014 blue or gray Nissan Sentra that was seen on surveillance video at a Mobil gas station at 12580 W. Sunrise Blvd.

The vehicle had a smashed windshield, and the video shows the driver inspecting the damage on his car before briefly walking away while holding his cellphone.

Holguin remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Anyone with information about the man's identity is asked to call Sunrise police at 954-746-3342 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
