Adam Tilford Becomes Assistant Social Media Director of Atheist Alliance of America

By Enkel R. Brintrup

Adam is the type of person you want to invite over to your house for both a hot
meal and a conversation across the kitchen table. He is both unassuming in
character and pliable in mentorship. It is this flexibility that allows strangers to meet
and greet Adam as if he were the type of family member that had simply stepped
away into an adventure and come back to inspire you. But, only if you’re ready and
willing.

Perhaps it’s his early childhood fascination of astronomy, the outdoors, music,
carpentry, and mycology that enable his welcoming persona to give without
expectation of reward. Perhaps it’s his passion for theology as an ordained Dudist
Priest and an ordained Minister of Pastafarianism that allow Adam the cerebral
flexibility to showcase his center, peaceful, with the willingness to walk a mile in, if
not the same shoes at least the same road, with a new student, without any other
motive than to be.

There is deep wisdom in actions that convey a return to the present, including the
dignity to help others heal in the manner they find appropriate without judgment.
For the number of us who are too jaded to remember the present, Adam provides a
space safe enough to morph the engagement into a creative brainstorm filled with
laughter, ideas, and debate. Adam will bring out the best in each individual
because he understands trust and open communication are cornerstones of
intellectual integrity.

As Assistant Social Media Director Adam’s contribution to AAoA will be felt for years to come. He is already coaching
the next set of leaders that will help make AAoA what you will see in the coming
months. According to Adam, “My goal is to help people. Our goal is to help people.
For us, life is about people…”
