A state trooper resigned after he was caught on video speeding down the wrong way of a highway against oncoming traffic.
T.J. Williamson of the North Carolina Highway Patrol resigned Tuesday, two days after he was racing to the scene of a major street-racing bust.
WSOC reports Williamson was driving south in the northbound lanes.
The woman who recorded the video felt there was no need to endanger the lives of drivers.
"Street racing isn't what you should be doing but it was more reckless, in my opinion, of the police officer to be driving the way he was driving, in general, to pull over some people racing,” Carisa Lynn told the station.
Williamson had been employed as a trooper for less than a year.
