A gas tanker overturned Monday morning on U.S. Route 1 in the Florida Keys, authorities said.
The crash was reported at about 6:30 a.m. at mile marker 70 in Long Key.
Monroe County Sheriff's Office deputies said the tanker went off the road and into mangroves.
One of its containers ruptured, spilling about 2,600 gallons of gasoline into Florida Bay, deputies said.
The driver was taken to Mariners Hospital in Tavernier with minor injuries.
Fire Rescue crews "applied foam to mitigate any ignition potential and placed a spill boom in the mangroves to try to minimize runoff," authorities said in an email.
Traffic delays were reported on the Overseas Highway throughout the morning because of the crash.
No other vehicles were involved, authorities said.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
