53-year-old woman remains in ICU after hit-and-run in Sunrise

A woman remains in intensive care at a South Florida hospital Monday, days after she was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Sunrise, authorities said.

Sunrise police identified the victim as Michelle Holguin, 53.

According to police, Holguin was riding her bicycle just after midnight Saturday when she was struck by a car in front of a Chik-fil-A in the 12600 block of Sunrise Boulevard.

Police said Holguin, a waitress at a nearby restaurant, suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by the car on her way home from work.

Her bicycle, a white Raleigh mountain bike, had damage to its rear rim and tire.

Police said that based on the damage to the bike, the vehicle that hit her should have damage to its front bumper area.

Holguin was wearing black shoes, black pants and a black shirt at the time of the crash, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
