Man threatens to shoot officers after domestic battery incident, Miami Beach police say

Miami Beach officers responded to a domestic battery incident Thursday night after a man threatened to shoot officers if they entered the building, Miami Beach police spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez said.

Deputy Chief Richard Clements said a woman got into a fight with her boyfriend and it became heated. Clements said they were able to get her out of the apartment, but when they tried to get the suspect out he said he had a firearm and threatened to hurt officers.

Roads were blocked off near the residential building at 9:37 p.m. in the 1800 block of Meridian Avenue as police's SWAT team and other officers responded to the scene.

Around 3 a.m., the suspect was taken into custody.
