Man falls while crossing street in Davie, gets run over by SUV

Davie police released surveillance video Wednesday of an SUV that struck a pedestrian in late June.

The hit-and-run was reported shortly before midnight June 25 at the intersection of State Road 7 and Griffin Road.

Police said the victim, identified as Alfonso Ordonez, 50, was attempting to cross the street when he fell down in the median.

Police said he was lying in the roadway for several seconds before he was run over by a smaller-type SUV.

The vehicle is believed to be silver or gray.

Witnesses told Local 10 News that they saw the victim at a nearby Shell gas station just before he was killed.

"I actually saw him walking into the station, and he was little intoxicated and his friend was holding him. He asked to use the bathroom," Holly Wilson said.

Ordonez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to call Davie police at 954-693-8200 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
