Rayshawn Lamar Bennett, better known as rapper YFN Lucci, was among the dozens who were mourning the death of Jackisha Bayard on Saturday.
The 21-year-old fashionista was shot on Friday in front of her home in Miami's Wynwood neighborhood.
"It's just a tragedy," said Jessica Martinez, who knew her since they were both little girls.
Miami detectives believe Gregory Brown, Jr., drove to Bayard's home, called her and told her to come outside. When the Miami Beach Senior High School graduate walked towards his car, detectives said he pulled out a gun and shot her in the chest.
Bayard, who was in a relationship with Brown, tried to run back inside at 93 NW 38 St., but she collapsed near the door.
Miami Fire Rescue rushed her to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center, where she died on Friday. Brown, 22, turned himself in and he faces one count of first-degree murder.
Bayard was working at Staples on Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 21st Street. She had dreams of going to beauty school and of working in the beauty or fashion industry.
"I always remembered her as a cool little girl," Naomi Emorency said.
Her friends were planning on going to a July 8 pool party that she had been planning. After the shooting, they were planning on going to her memorial Saturday.
Brown was set to appear in front of a Miami-Dade County judge on Saturday.
