1 injured after small plane crashes in Fort Myers

A small plane crashed into a building on Saturday morning near Page Field Airport in Fort Myers.

The plane was a Pipe PA 28 Cherokee Aircraft, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The pilot crashed during takeoff into an unoccupied daycare center at Metro Parkway and Daley Drive.

Lee County Fire Rescue took the pilot to a nearby hospital. 

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate and determine the cause of the crash.
