Inmate on ‘monitor-release’ flees from officers in Miami, authorities say

An inmate on "monitor-release" fled from officers Thursday afternoon in Miami, authorities said.

Miami-Dade Corrections spokesman Juan Diasgranados said in an email that the inmate took off in the area of 3900 First Avenue.

He said inmates on monitor-release are monitored in the community by officers. 

He said city of Miami police are leading the search for the suspect.

No other details were immediately released.
