KALAMAZOO, MICHIGAN – On Wednesday June 21, 2017 at 7:00 p.m., the Michigan Coalition Against Racism in Sports & Media along with The Honorable Donald F. Cooney and Director Timothy Ready of Western Michigan University’s Lewis Walker Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnic Relations, and other parties will speak at the Paw Paw School Board meeting regarding the school sports name and logo issue (R*dskins).
The Paw Paw School Board voted to keep the racist R-word as part of the school district’s identity in February after months of contention about it continuation.
This is an effort to enlighten and offer expertise to the board on American Indian racial issues especially relating to mascots – in support of the American Indian community.
The meeting will be held at the Paw Paw Schools Central Office at 119 Johnson St, Paw Paw, Michigan.
